Local professionals elected as presidents

Award-winning pit master Mike Mills, owner of Las Vegas' Memphis Championship Barbecue, was inaugurated as the president of the National Barbecue Association.

Michele Polci, senior catering manager of the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino, has been elected as president of the Las Vegas Chapter of the National Association of Catering Executives.

HEALTH
Award recognizes local insurance plan

Health Plan of Nevada's Senior Dimensions Medicare Advantage Plan recently received a 2005 Senior Choice Gold Award from HealthMetrix Research Inc. The national recognition noted the cost-sharing effectiveness and value in design of the Senior Dimensions Medicare Advantage Plan.

Additionally, the plan was the only one in the Las Vegas market to qualify for the award.

EDUCATION
Partner, firm become licensed, certified

Christine Soscia, a partner with In Ves, earned a general securities principal license from the National Association of Securities Dealers.

In Ves offers financial solutions for closely held businesses. Soscia's license qualifies her to manage and supervise sales, investment banking activities, trading and market-making activities and brokerage office operations.

Consultants in Marketing, Inc., was recently certified as a Women and Minority Business Enterprise business. The firm, owned by Darcy Neighbors, is now certified to work with other businesses participating in the WMBE Clearinghouse.
