ONE GOOD DEED DESERVES ANOTHER
View welcomes proclamations of Las Vegas residents who go above and beyond the call of duty to lend a hand to a group or individual. If you know of a friend, relative, neighbor or co-worker who has pitched in to help make the community a better, safer or more comfortable place to live, write and tell us about it. Send good deed letters and photos by mail to: Lauren Romano, View, P.O. Box 70, Las Vegas, NV 89125-0070; by e-mail, referencing Good Deeds in the subject line, to lromano@viewnews.com.
An angel lives next door to me
My neighbor Bonnie Simmons is an angel. The first day I met her she came over and picked up my paper knowing I could not bend down to get it myself.
I am a 90-year-old woman recovering from a stroke. Bonnie helps me so much every day. She does my laundry without my asking. She just walked in one day and said, "Where are your clothes? I am going to do laundry." I can't even separate the whites and the colors because she does it all for me.
I have never met anyone as caring as she is to me. If there are angels I don't know where she hides her wings. My daughter offered her money, but she won't take it. She doesn't even know how much.
There are 1,000 things she does to help me. She is a wonderful person. She picks up my mail, brings food over often, checks on me and makes sure I am OK.
She keeps me company by visiting with me every day. I never ask her for help with anything. She just always helps. I appreciate her more than I can ever show.
