Slumber party planned for youth

The city of Henderson Parks and Recreation Department will host Graveyard Groove and Slumber from 8 p.m. today until 8 a.m. Saturday at the Silver Springs Recreation Center, 1951 Silver Springs Parkway. Participation is $20 per youth, ages 8-12. Registration for the event is due today.

The overnight event includes a dance, costume contest, midnight snacks, ghost stories, games at breakfast at dawn. Youth should bring their own sleeping bag, pillow, flashlight and wear a costume.

Acacia gardens offering free tours

The Acacia Demonstration Gardens, 50 Casa Del Fuego St., is hosting free tours with master gardeners from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday. Participation is open to those ages 5 and up. The tours are sponsored by the city of Henderson Parks and Recreation Department. Registration is not required.

Participants will be led on an in-depth guided tour of Acacia's 2.8 acres containing 19 distinct gardens.

SAFETY

Child CPR event set for Friday

An infant and child CPR workshop will be offered at 3 p.m. today at the Henderson Multigenerational Center, 200 S. Green Valley Parkway. Participation is $20 per person for ages 14 and up, due at the class.

The workshop will feature the American Heart Association Friends & Family non-certified course in infant and child CPR and relief of foreign airway obstruction. It is recommended for parents, grandparents and caregivers of children ages 8 and under, and those who want to learn rescue skills for loved ones.
