Walkers and runners are invited to join in the fight against cancer by participating in the Relay for Life from 6 p.m. May 5 to 6 a.m. May 6 in Summerlin.
Teams will gather at Alexander Dawson School, 10845 W. Desert Inn Road, for the annual event, which helps raise funds to fight cancer.

Mirabelli Center to host craft event
The City of Las Vegas Department of Leisure Services is sponsoring a spring craft fair from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Mirabelli Community Center, 6200 Hargrove Ave.
The fair will feature only handcrafted merchandise and nothing will be priced over $35.

CCSN to celebrate 35-year milestone
CCSN will be celebrating its 35th anniversary during the Legacy of Achievement event at 6 p.m. Saturday inside the Palace Ballroom at Caesars Palace.
The event, to be hosted by the CCSN Foundation Inc., will feature a champagne reception, a gourmet dinner, auction prizes, musical entertainment and a special program.

Woodsy Owl Day to be held May 20
The Super Summer Theatre's 10th annual Woodsy Owl Day will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on May 20 at Spring Mountain Ranch State Park, 10 miles west of the Las Vegas Beltway on Charleston Boulevard.
Woodsy Owl Day is geared to be a day of fun and entertainment for children, families and the young at heart. Live events will include a tree-planting ceremony honoring Arbor Day, a patriotic Naval Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps, the presentation of colors, arts and crafts, free wagon rides, a chance to climb aboard the Forest Service Fire engine, and kite flying with Boy Scout Troop 64.
Guests will include host of the day Woodsy Owl, McGruff the Crime Dog, Mohave Max, Las Vegas Speedway's mascot Nascar, a Las Vegas Gladiator, the Las Vegas 51s' mascot, and Sonio's friendly chicken.
Refreshments will be for sale, and families also are encouraged to bring their own picnic baskets.

Memory Care Connection set for May
Care4Life and Willow Creek will be hosting Memory Care Connection from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on May 6 at Acacia Springs, 8630 W. Nevso Drive, near Flamingo Road and Durango Drive.
Memory Care Connection is an educational and awareness-raising event about memory health, Alzheimer's disease and related illnesses, and offers caregiver strategies and community resources aimed at anyone who is interested in memory care or concerned about memory problems.
The day will include distribution of information and educational materials, alternative therapies to care for loved ones, door prizes and complimentary memory screenings.
Memory Care Connection is a national initiative of the Alzheimer's Foundation of America and is being held during Older Americans Month in May.

Southern Hills Hospital to host Baby Fair
Southern Hills Hospital and Medical Center will host its second annual Baby Fair from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the hospital, 9300 W. Sunset Road, near the Las Vegas Beltway.
The fair is free and open to the public. Attendees will enjoy free gifts, information on newborn care, educational sessions from medical experts, car seat safety checks and raffle prizes. Participants also will have the opportunity to win the grand prize, consisting of 2,000 diapers or a full nursery furniture set.

Canyon Hiking Tour heads out this week
The Sloan Canyon National Conservation Area Hiking Tour is planned for 7 to 11 a.m. May 10.
Lola Henio, coordinator for Sloan Canyon National Conservation Area, will lead a group into the canyon and give a tour of a major petroglyph site. The moderately strenuous hike is limited to 20 people.
