View welcomes announcements of recent achievements of Favorite Sons & Daughters who have graduated from local high schools. Achievements may run the gamut from earning a college degree to successfully climbing Mount Everest. Please include the name of the area high school and year graduated. Amanda Allison was selected Outstanding Student of the Month for February by the Summerlin Lions Club.
A senior at Cimarron-Memorial High School, Allison has achieved a 4.0 and higher grade point average.
Over the course of her study, she has served as student body treasurer and is a member of the National Honor Society. She also was selected homecoming queen in 2005.
Other activities Allison is involved in include: varsity tennis (during her junior year); horseback riding and competitive show jumping events along the West Coast; the youth church program Young Women in Excellence; president of her church youth group; and helping to make beanies and blankets for underprivileged babies.
Allison is the daughter of Wes and Brenda Allison of Las Vegas.
Maria Brianna Lacey has been selected to participate in the National Student Leadership Conference for outstanding high school students, set to take place in New York, July 30 to Aug. 4.
Maria, 15, a sophomore honor student at Cimarron-Memorial High School, will join 8,000 high school students from 45 countries for the conference where students attend workshops and classes to study distinctions of leadership.
In her free time, Maria enjoys being an artist.
She is the daughter of Gerard and Katrina Lacey of Las Vegas.
