The National Junior Basketball League will be conducting registration for its upcoming winter season.
This league stresses organization, sportsmanship and player participation and has been in Las Vegas for over 13 years.
There are separate boys and girls divisions for grades 3-8. First and second grades are coed and the high school division is for boys only.
Games are played at high schools in the Summerlin and Northwest parts of town.
Registration will be held at the Gardens Community Center, 10401 Garden Park Drive, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Sept. 9 and from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sept. 14.
The registration fee is $160 for all divisions except first- and second-graders, which costs $140.
Las Vegas Indoor Soccer, 1400 N. Rampart Blvd., is conducting indoor basketball classes for ages 3-12. Athletes will learn to dribble, shoot and play as a team.
Classes are age appropriate.
The session begins this week and runs for eight weeks.
The Nevada Youth Football League is holding registration for full contact football for the fall 2006 season. Registration can be conducted at the league office at 1651 S. Buffalo Drive from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturdays.
When signing up, participants must have either a player ID card from the NYFL or an original birth certificate and utility bill.
For the Youth Division, ages 6-14, registration costs $180, with payment in cash or money order only.
Players must be present for weigh-in and accompanied by a parent.
Practice starts this week, with games running from September to mid-November.
The NYFL also is accepting applications for experienced coaches for the upcoming season.

Church offers gym for athletic events
Christ the King church, 4925 S. Torrey Pines Drive, is offering its gym to rent for practices, games and clinics.
The Fry's.com Open is seeking volunteers for the event, set for Oct. 12-15 at TPC Summerlin and TPC at the Canyons.
Volunteers will need to pay a $25 fee to defray expenses and will get a tournament pass for all tournament days as well as one for a guest.
Participants will be invited to a post-tournament party.

Rainbow league opens fall registration
Rainbow Youth Soccer League is holding registrations for its fall season at Villa Pizza, 3385 S. Durango Drive, across from Desert Breeze Park. Soccer 101 sign-ups under way at YMCA
Boys and girls ages 6-15 are invited to participate in an introductory soccer course that teaches game fundamentals. Participants can sign up for one class at a time or the full six-week session.

The Southern Nevada Fastpitch Association's Southeast league will be holding sign-ups for its fall season over the next month. Registration will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday at Round Table Pizza, 8878 S. Eastern Ave., Suite 104, and from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Aug. 12 at Vito's Italian Eatery, 10345 S. SNFA Southeast will hold its league draft from 9 to 11 a.m. on Aug. 19 at Desert Bloom Park, 8405 S. Maryland Parkway. Anyone signing up that day will be charged a $10 late registration fee. TENNIS
NTA offering two free clinics
The Nevada Tennis Association invites all high school tennis players to attend a free player's camp to be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday at the Darling Tennis Center, 7901 W. Washington Ave. Players are not required to attend both sessions but can do so if they wish.
Players who would like to register for the camp should call the NTA office at 792-8384 between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. The player's camp will review stroke technique as well as singles and doubles strategy and tactics. The camp also will offer players the opportunity to participate in a variety of live-ball drills and games designed to improve each aspect of their game.
The NTA also invites all high school coaches to attend a free workshop from 6 to 8 p.m. on Aug. 10 at the Darling Tennis Center. The coach's workshop will focus on a games-based approach to teaching tennis. All participants will have the opportunity to be active participants in each of the games introduced and will receive hand-outs describing all of the drills and games used during the workshop.

Stars club holding camp this month
The Silver State Stars Volleyball Club will be hosting a volleyball camp for girls ages 14-15 today through Friday and again for ages 16-18 on Monday through Aug. 11 at the Tarkanian Basketball Academy, 2730 S. Rancho Drive.
