BASEBALL

Wildcats seek players for club team

The Nevada Wildcats 10U Baseball Club is seeking 9 and 10-year-old players. Call Andy Klein, 497-5164.

Las Vegas Hawks seek experienced players

The Las Vegas Hawks baseball team is looking for experienced players to learn, have fun and win tournaments. Players must be turning 11 years old from May 1, 2006 to April 30, 2007.

BASKETBALL

NJBL holding winter registration

The National Junior Basketball League will be conducting registration for its upcoming winter season. The league stresses organization, sportsmanship and player participation and has been in Las Vegas for over 13 years.

There are separate boys and girls divisions for grades 3-8.

First and second grades are coed and the high school division is for boys only. Games are played at high schools in the Summerlin and Northwest parts of town.

Registration will be held at the Gardens Community Center, 10401 Garden Park Drive, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Sept. 9, and from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sept. 14. The registration fee is $160 for all divisions except first- and second-graders, which costs $140.

SOCCER

Rainbow league opens fall registration

Rainbow Youth Soccer League is holding registrations for its fall season at Villa Pizza, 3385 S. Durango Drive, across from Desert Breeze Park. Registration will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. The fees, which include a full uniform pack and pictures plus all referee and state fees, are $90 for U5-U10 and $100 for U12-U15.

Soccer 101 sign-ups under way at YMCA

Boys and girls ages 6-15 are invited to participate in an introductory soccer course that teaches game fundamentals. Participants can sign up for one class at a time or the full six-week session.

The sessions will be held on Thursdays from 5 to 6 p.m., starting Aug. 17 and continuing through Sept. 21.

The cost is $10 per class or $55 for the six-week course. For more information, call 240-9622.

SOFTBALL

Fastpitch travel club hosts season tryouts

The Las Vegas Outlaws 14U fastpitch travel softball club is hosting tryouts for the 2006 travel "A" ball season.

Southeast league holding fall sign-ups

The Southern Nevada Fastpitch Association's Southeast league is holding sign-ups for its fall season. Registration will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday at Vito's Italian Eatery, 10345 S. Eastern Ave.

SNFA Southeast will hold its league draft from 9 to 11 a.m. on Aug. 19 at Desert Bloom Park, 8405 S. Maryland Parkway. Anyone signing up that day will be charged a $10 late registration fee. Tryouts for players 14 and under will be held from 9 to 11 a.m.; players 12 and under from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.; and from 1 to 3 p.m. for players 10 and under.

Registrations fees are based on the division played, not the player's age. The 8-and-under division fee is $65 while the 10-, 12- and 14-and-under divisions cost $90. There is a $5 sibling family discount.

SWIMMING

YMCA water parks still open daily

Water parks at both YMCA branches are open daily through the end of August.

Hours at the Bill & Lillie Heinrich YMCA water park, 4141 Meadows Lane, are noon to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sundays. Hours at the Durango Hills YMCA water park, 3521 N. Durango Drive, are 1 to 6:45 p.m. Monday through Friday, noon to 7 p.m. Saturdays and noon to 5 p.m. Sundays.

Admission for YMCA members and Sizzlin' Summer pass holders is free. The daily cost without membership is $2 (3-17 years) or $3 (18 years and up). For more information, call the Durango Hills YMCA at 240-9622, or the Heinrich YMCA at 877-9622.
