Tarkanian Basketball Academy offers camp

A Sunday Skills Camp, a weekly two-hour basketball class for boys and girls of all ages and skill levels, is being held from noon to 2 p.m. every Sunday at the Tarkanian Basketball Academy at Station Sports Complex, 2730 S. Rancho Drive.

Sin City Chamber Golf Classic announced

Mia Tofano transfers to University of Evansville

Bonanza High School graduate and 2005 Nevada Gatorade Soccer Player of the Year Mia Tofano transferred from St. Mary's College in California to the University of Evansville in Evansville, Ind.

At Evansville, Tofano will be reunited with former Las Vegas club soccer teammate Kayla Lambert, who finished seventh in the nation in scoring for the Aces as a freshman in 2005, earning All-American honors.

Fastpitch travel club hosts team tryouts

The Las Vegas Outlaws 14U fastpitch travel softball club is hosting tryouts for the 2006 travel A ball season.

SWIMMING

Youths compete on Western zone team

Several Southern Nevada swimmers competed on the 2006 Southern California Swimming Western Zone team and finished in the top 10 in their age groups. They are: Jacquelyn Pulido (girls 9-10), Stephanie Jablon (girls 11-12), Billy Gravely and Dylan Wolf (boys 11-12), Haley Powell (girls 13-14), Ian Salvatierra, Cody Miller and Jay Sirat (boys 13-14) and Timothy McDowell (boys 17-18).

TENNIS

Outdoor tennis carnival hosted by city

The city of Las Vegas Department of Leisure Services is hosting a free outdoor tennis carnival from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at Brinley Community School, 6150 Smoke Ranch Road. Activities will include 10-minute sessions of small-group tennis instruction and games with local tennis instructors and pros.

A new after-school tennis and education program that begins this fall will be explained during the event. Call 646-9046 for more information.

Spartan Cup Tennis Classic starts Friday

Cimarron-Memorial High School and the Darling Tennis Center are hosting the Spartan Cup Tennis Classic for high school tennis players from 3 to 9 p.m. Friday and from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Darling Tennis Center, 7901 W. Washington Ave.
