Chefs to meet at World Gourmet Summit

International and local chefs and wine makers and will showcase their work at the third annual World Gourmet Summit Las Vegas at the World Market Center Sept. 8 through 9.

The event will feature the latest worldwide trends in art, wine and food. Ticket sales will benefit UNLV and CCSN student scholarships.

Guests will be able to tour the shops at the World Market Center, 489 S. Grand Central Parkway, while participating in the days' events.

The Grand Gourmet Safari, located in the Atrium of the World Market Center, will feature new food products, a wine exhibition featuring 300 wines from four continents supplied by DeLuca Liquor and Wines, culinary competitions, food and wine pairing classes, specialty bars, and autographs from cookbook authors.

Admission is $85 to the Grand Gourmet Safari. Other events vary in price. To purchase tickets, call the UNLV ticket office at 739-3267 or visit www.worldgourmetsummitlasvegas.com.

The Grand Gourmet Safari opens at noon.

Steak Fry set for Saturday

The Fifth Annual Steak Fry and Birthday Bash for New Vista Community will be from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday at Sunset Park, 2601 E. Sunset Road. New Vista is an organization that supports disabled members of the community.

The cost for the Steak Fry is $25 per adult and $10 for children aged 12 and under. Tickets must be purchased before the event. Outback Steakhouse will be serving steak, chicken and side dishes. There will also be birthday cake, game sports, live music and more.
