Store to host photography exhibit

Artistic Framing, 821 S. Rainbow Blvd., plans a night of fine art titled Photography: From Traditional to Abstract, starting at 7 p.m. Feb. 17. The two featured artists are photographers Larry Rogosch and Arthur Jacob.

Rogosch has been photographing Arizona, California, Utah and his home state of Nevada for the past 15 years. His images include mountain vistas, waterfalls and pristine landscapes.

Jacob is a newcomer to Las Vegas, where he is continuing his profession as a photographer and artist. His photographic abstractions consist of taking a real-life image and reworking it digitally.

In addition, displays of original hand-pulled silkscreens and stone lithography art from renowned American, French, Russian and Chinese artists will be shown.

Benefit walk set for Fashion Show

The third annual Walk with the Heart of a Child 3k fun walk to benefit the Children's Heart Foundation is planned for the Fashion Show on Saturday.

Check-in for the walk begins at 7 a.m. The heart kids lead the warm-up at about 7:45 a.m. and the walk is slated to start at 8.

Monthly Star Party set for Saturday

The Las Vegas Astronomical Society has planned its monthly public Star Party program for Saturday at the Red Rock Visitor Center.

The program begins at 5:00 p.m. with a short astronomy presentation followed by a telescopic observing, weather permitting. The program is free and open to the public.

Desert Shores the site for pet event

Lucky Dog Magazine announces the first Sugar, Champagne & Whine Tasting event planned for 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Lakeside Center in Desert Shores, 2620 Regatta Drive.

Enjoy hors d'oeuvres, chocolates, champagne, wine and visit vendors for all the items your dog deserves. The event will benefit the Nevada SPCA Adopt-A-Rescue-Pet, Noah's Animal House and Heaven Can Wait Sanctuary.

South Coast to host Chocolate Affair

The Chocolate Affair is planned for 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday in the Grand Ballroom of the South Coast, 9777 Las Vegas Blvd. South.

Participants will be surrounded by a chocolate wonderland of decadent desserts, chocolate fountains, chocolate martinis and wine and chocolate pairings. Live jazz will by provided by Rocky Gordon and the Killer Groove Band.

Valentine's Day Dance around the corner

A Valentine's Day Dance is scheduled for 7 to 10 p.m. Feb. 14 at Charleston Heights Arts Center, 800 S. Brush Street.

Hikers Seeking Hikers schedules outings

A new program, Hikers Seeking Hikers, is a way to meet people with similar outdoor interests. Events include a gathering of five men and five women or more finding new hikes in the Las Vegas area.

Two hikes for all ages are planned this month, on Saturday and Feb. 18. After the hike, participants enjoy snacks and socialize in a picnic-style setting. Cost is $34.95 per person.

Women Marines group plans gathering

Internationally known artist to instruct

German pianist Andreas Klein will offer a free master class free open to the public from 4 to 5:30 p.m. today at Southern Nevada Music, 1881 S. Rainbow Blvd.

Sponsored by the Las Vegas Philharmonic, the event will feature three local pianists who will play for comments from Klein. The class should be informative for piano students of all ages. Teachers and parents are encouraged to attend and bring their students.

Jazz concert set for Sun City

Jazz in Summerlin! is planned for 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Sun City Summerlin's Starbright Theater, 2215 Thomas Ryan Blvd. The event will feature the Dehner Franks Quartet.

Tickets are $15 for Sun City residents or $20 for non-residents. They are available at Pinnacle, Desert Vista, and Mountain Shadows community centers.

Black history musical event planned

PVM Productions, in conjunction with the Nevada Clark County Library West Sahara branch, invites residents to enjoy a theatrical musical created in celebration of Black History Month entitled "Chocolate Melody." The show is set for 1 p.m. Saturday at the West Sahara Library, 9600 W. Sahara Ave., and at 3 p.m. Feb. 26.

The performance will feature local dancers, musicians, actors and singers. Admission is free.
