The Boys & Girls Clubs of Las Vegas presents its first-ever basketball camp to be held Saturdays at the Lied Memorial Boys & Girls Club, 2850 S. Lindell Road.
The camp begins Saturday and runs through Aug. 12. The camp will run from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
The camp is free for boys and girls ages 7-12 and limited to the first 150 people.
Each camper receives a camp T-shirt, individual and group instruction and lunch.

Durango YMCA offers adult league
The Durango Hills Community Center run by the YMCA, 3521 N. Durango Drive, is offering an adult basketball league from 6 to 10 p.m. on Tuesdays through Aug. 8.
The cost is $500 per team, which includes referee fees for each game.

Youth league teams forming at YMCA
Boys and girls ages 6-15 of all skill levels can compete in the summer basketball league at the Durango Hills Community Center run by the YMCA, 3521 N. Durango Drive.
Teams are formed based on age groups. The focus is on skill development and fun. The summer league runs Monday through Aug. 19. One-hour practices will be held Monday, Wednesday or Thursday evenings. Games are played Friday evenings between 6 and 9 p.m., and Saturdays between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. The cost is $85.

Overnight camp planned at YMCA
Youth ages 8-13 are invited to participate in the Bill & Lillie Heinrich YMCA overnight basketball camp from 7 p.m. to 11 a.m. on July 28-29. Participants will practice passing and shooting, and watch films. The $50 camp cost includes dinner and breakfast.

Men's adult basketball open gym play is now under way at the Christ the King gym, 4925 Torrey Pines Drive. The gym will be open from 7 to 9 p.m. every Thursday and the cost is $2 per person.

YMCA offering 70 summer camps
The Durango Hills Community Center run by the YMCA, 3521 N. Durango Drive, and the Bill & Lillie Heinrich YMCA, 4141 Meadows Lane, will offer 70 specialty camps that run until Aug. 25 for youth ages 5-17. Registration is under way at both branches.
Campers may enroll for separate weeks of any camp or mix and match weeks of specialty camps. Weeks need not be consecutive. Prices vary based on camp. Sports camps, travel camps, theater camps, cooking camps, craft camps and teen camps are among the choices.

Boyack's accepting camp registrations
Boyack's Dance Attack accepts students ages 3-18 and has studios on both sides of town, offering classes in jazz, ballet, hip-hop, tumbling, performing teams and more. Dance Attack is accepting registration for its BDA Dance Clinic for ages 5-17, to be held Aug. 9-12.
The Nevada Youth Football League is holding registration for full contact football for the fall 2006 season. Registration can be conducted at the league office at 1651 S. Buffalo Drive from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturdays.
When signing up, participants must have either a player ID card from the NYFL or an original birth certificate and utility bill. For the Youth Division, ages 6-14, registration costs $180, with payment in cash or money order only. Players must be present for weigh-in and accompanied by a parent. Practice starts the first week in August, with games running from September to mid-November. The NYFL also is accepting applications for experienced coaches for the upcoming season.

Centennial holding Bulldog Classic today
Centennial High School will be holding its fifth annual Bulldog Football Golf Classic today at the Las Vegas Paiute Golf Resort, 10325 Nu Wav Kaiv Blvd. The event begins at 7 a.m. with check-in and will be followed by a shotgun start at 8 a.m.

Angel Park hosting Pro-Scratch tourney
The 2006 Las Vegas Pro-Scratch golf tournament will take place July 30 (Mountain course) and July 31 (Palm course) at Angel Park Golf Club, 100 S. Rampart Blvd. Two-person teams comprised of one professional and one scratch amateur will compete in a "one best ball of two" format for a total purse of more than $12,000.
The team entry fee is $300 and includes unlimited practice balls prior to play, two drink tickets per player, lunch following the first round and continental breakfast prior to final round.
The Las Vegas Track Club will be hosting the 30th annual Notch Run on Saturday at 7 a.m. on the course, which begins on Mount Charleston at the Las Vegas Ski & Snowboard Resort and finishes four miles down the mountain at Mack's Canyon. All runners will be bused to the finish area after the race.
The cost of the race is $20 for LVTC members, $23 for non-members and $15 for youth 19 and under.

Faith's Dani Griego headed to Europe
Faith Lutheran High School sophomore Dani Griego was invited to play in the United Soccer Academy's 2006 Gothia-Dana Tour starting today and running through July 31.
Griego, who also plays for the Olympics Developmental Team and the Premier Under 16 soccer club, will attend a training camp in Hanover, Germany Wednesday through Saturday and will participate in the Gothia Cup in Gothenburg, Sweden Sunday through July 20. Griego will then play in the Dana Cup in Hjorring, Denmark on July 23-29, and will spend July 30 sightseeing in Copenhagen, Denmark before returning to the U.S. on July 31.
YMCA's Itty Bitty session starts July 25
Little kickers ages 3-5 can learn soccer fundamentals along with their parents -- parent participation is required -- at the Durango Hills Community Center YMCA, 3521 N. Durango Drive.

YMCA holding lifeguard training
The Bill & Lillie Heinrich YMCA, 4141 Meadows Lane, is offering lifeguard training. The minimum age is 15. When successfully completing the course, participants will receive American Red Cross Lifeguarding, CPR and First Aid certification.
Candidates must be able to swim 200 yards of freestyle, 100 yards of breaststroke and 200 yards of either stroke, rescue a 10-pound brick and swim 20 yards.

Locals thrive at Summer Sectionals
Top Intermountain juniors competed June 12-17 in the USTA Intermountain Summer Sectional Championship held in Boise, Idaho, with several players from Southern Nevada winning or finishing second in their age groups in singles play.
Winning the Boys 18s championship was Las Vegas' Ryan Gormley. Finishing second in the Boys 14s was Las Vegan Jeff Vongman, and winning the Boys 12s was Brendan Aguilar, who defeated Henderson's Nicholas Mahlangu, 6-2, 6-3 in the title match.
In girls singles play, Asia Muhammad of Henderson won the Girls 18s championship while Kimberly Yee of Las Vegas captured the Girls 12 singles title in straight sets.
VOLLEYBALL
Silver State Stars holding August camp
The Silver State Stars Volleyball Club will be hosting a volleyball camp for girls ages 14-15 on Aug. 1-4, and for ages 16-18 on Aug. 7-11 at the Tarkanian Basketball Academy, 2730 S. Rancho Drive.
