Silverado High School senior Chad Robinson and Basic High School senior Kylee Hash were chosen on the first day of the Major League Baseball draft on June 6.
Robinson, a 6-foot-5-inch right-handed pitcher, was picked in the 12th round by the Milwaukee Brewers, while Hash, a catcher, was selected in the 17th round by the world champion Chicago White Sox.
Foothill High School senior Kevin Kreier was selected as the 599th overall pick in the 20th round on the second day of the draft, when he was picked by the Chicago Cubs.
Nevada Scorpions schedule tryouts
The Nevada Scorpion baseball club will be holding tryouts for its 8-, 9-, 10- and 11-and-under teams from 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday and July 1.
The NBA Toshiba Vegas Summer League is looking for responsible, high school-aged students who would like to volunteer as player assistants for the upcoming NBA Summer League basketball games.
Sixteen NBA teams will be playing a 40 game schedule at the Cox Pavilion from July 6-14. Player assistants will be responsible for helping the teams and players on the bench during the games with ball boy duties.
Volunteers must be available to work at a minimum of six games, have an interest in basketball and provide their own transportation to the Cox Pavilion. Foothill plans camp for June
Foothill Falcon basketball will hold it seventh annual summer basketball camp in the Foothill High School gym, 800 College Drive in Henderson.
The camp is open to boys and girls entering grades 3-9 and will run from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday through June 29. The $90 registration fee will include a personal evaluation, a camp T-shirt, instruction and competition.

Green Valley High holds program sign-ups
Green Valley High School is accepting applications for its 2006 Green Valley Boys Basketball Camp.
The camp will be held from 10 a.m. to noon July 17-21 and is open to boys entering grades 5-9 in the fall of 2006. The cost is $75.
Each camper will receive a camp ball, a T-shirt and basketball cards.

Youth program sets fall registrations
The Henderson United Youth Soccer will hold registration for its fall season for boys and girls ages 4-13 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday at Dick's Sporting Goods, 1308 W. Sunset Road in the Galleria at Sunset mall.
Top Intermountain juniors competed in the USTA Intermountain Summer Sectional Championship held June 12-17 in Boise, Idaho.
Players in each age division vied for the top four endorsement spots, which grant them entrance into the USTA National Clay Court Championships and USTA National Hard Court Championships.

Thompson sisters honored again
Bishop Gorman High School graduates Catrina and Christian Thompson were named All-Americans for a second straight year for their doubles play at the University of Notre Dame by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.
The duo finished 10th in the final ITA rankings and compiled a 22-7 record in doubles play.
Free clinics offered for beginners
The David Pate Junior Tennis Foundation is sponsoring free tennis clinics for beginner and novice players ages 7-14.
The clinics, which started on June 19, are being held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays and will last five weeks at Bally's tennis courts, 3645 Las Vegas Blvd. South.

GVHS set to hold girls camp
The Green Valley High School women's volleyball program will be holding a volleyball camp from Aug. 8-11.
The camp will be held in the gym at Green Valley High School, 460 Arroyo Grande Blvd.
The camp will run from 9 a.m. to noon and grades 3-12 are invited to participate. The price of the camp is $125 and includes 12 hours of instruction, a T-shirt, a backpack, a water bottle, a towel and a leather volleyball.
