HELP of Southern Nevada volunteer Simmone Moe, a freshman at Durango High School, recently won the 2006 Community Enrichment Award in the Youth Category given by the Volunteer Center of Southern Nevada.

Moe, who was chosen by a panel of citizens and community leaders, volunteers in the marketing department and assists staff with special events. Her award was presented on April 28 at the MGM Grand Conference Center.

The lecture will be from 11 a.m. to noon, and the assessment clinic will be from 1 to 4 p.m. inside Sunrise Hospital's auditorium, 3186 S. Maryland Parkway.

RELIGION

High school graduates invited to church bash

The D.J. Allen Project's Be the One: Graduation Celebration is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Friday at Community Lutheran Church, 3720 E. Tropicana Ave.

Presented by CLC Youth Ministry, the event is designed to be a spiritual celebration of the valley's high school seniors graduating this spring.

The event is free and open to the public. All graduating seniors from throughout the valley are invited, along with their family and friends.

The D.J. Allen Project is a multimedia entertainment program that incorporates Big Beat Battalion, a local hip-hop group.

UNLV

Dollar credit offered for early registration

UNLV students have a new incentive this year to get a jump on registration for fall classes.

Undergraduates who register for the fall 2006 semester by 5 p.m. on Monday will be eligible to win either a $300 credit at the UNLV bookstore or one free three-credit class.

Early registration is important, UNLV officials said, because early head counts determine whether new classes or sections will be added to meet increased demand.

The fall 2006 class schedule, as well as specific registration dates and times, are posted at www.register.unlv.edu. For more information, call the UNLV registrars office at 895-3443.
