Sammy's Pizza to host Toys for Tots drive
Sammy's Woodfired Pizza plans to host its fourth annual Las Vegas Toys for Tots program from Nov. 25 through Dec.16.
The business will collect new, unwrapped toys at both of its Las Vegas locations: 6500 W. Sahara Ave., and 4300 E. Sunset Road. Each customer who brings in a toy donation will receive a free giant Messy Sundae.
The Toys for Tots program is the mission of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve and collects new, unwrapped toys and distributes them as holiday gifts to children in need.
HELP accepts applications for aid
HELP of Southern Nevada is accepting applications for holiday assistance, including financial help, as well as services that the group provides.
The organization will accept applications from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays through Nov. 10 at its office at 1640 E. Flamingo Road, Suite 100. Application days will be extended to Monday through Friday from Nov. 13-17 and Nov. 27 through Dec. 15.
Applicants must provide photo identification, Social Security cards for all household members, proof of all income, proof of residency, birth certificates for all dependents under age 18, proof of guardianship, and last year's tax return. Applicants also must meet income guidelines to qualify for assistance.

Catholic Charities seeks holiday foods
Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada Social Services is accepting donations of turkeys and other food that can be distributed for the holidays.
The program seeks to provide turkey dinner food baskets to more than 2,500 area families in need for Thanksgiving.
Individuals or organizations who would like to donate turkeys, canned or nonperishable food can call 385-2662, or deliver donations to Catholic Charities Social Services, 1501 Las Vegas Blvd. North.

CCSD offers students help for tests
The Clark County School District is offering a Tutoring for Proficiency program to all high school juniors and seniors who have not previously tested, or have failed the math or reading portion of the proficiency exam.

Boulder City choirs to perform at UNLV
The Red Mountain Music Company Choirs will present Shout Glory at 6:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday inside Doc Rando Concert Hall at UNLV.
The event will feature Ricky "Wally" Taylor. The Boulder City-based choirs have audition and nonauditioned members.
Tickets are $12 for regular admission and $10 for senior citizens, students and children. They can be purchased by calling the UNLV Performing Arts Center Box Office at 895-2787.
UNLV to raise funds with trombones
Trombonists will toot their horns for scholarships at the 22nd annual 76 Trombones + 4 concert that will take place at 2 p.m. on Sunday in the Artemus Ham Hall at UNLV.
The fundraising event, originally conceived as a one-time concert, will celebrate the music of Art Sares. The concert attracts national and international musicians.

Comedians to crack jokes at local festival
A variety of comedians will perform from Nov 14-18 at Caesars Palace for The Comedy Festival.
Comedians will include George Lopez, Sarah Silverman, Triumph the Insult Comic Dog and Bob Saget.

Master Singers to belt out tunes for funds
The Las Vegas Master Singers will present A Century of Show Tunes at 3 p.m. on Nov. 19 at the Community Lutheran Church at 3720 E. Tropicana Ave.
The choir will sing a selection of show tunes and Beatles songs from across the decades. Tickets are $20. Proceeds will benefit the Master Singers for concerts during the 2006-07 season.

Tickets on sale to dance with stars
ABC's "Dancing with the Stars" is hitting the road and bringing its most popular team of stars and professional dancers from seasons one through three to 38 cities throughout the United States, including Las Vegas
Tickets are now on sale for a live show slated for Dec. 30 at the Thomas & Mack Center. The show will feature celebrity group and solo dances, along with sets from the professional dancers. Farmers' market and antiques fair set
The Winchester Cultural Center and Park, 3130 S. McLeod Drive, will host the free Vintage Vegas Farmers' Market and Antiques Fair from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday.
Gardeners will sell vegetables and fruit, and antiques appraisers and sellers will present vintage goods. Artists will display their work, and vendors will sell food. Entertainers from the Winchester Cultural Center programs and classes will perform from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Contest has financial, educational rewards
Coldwell Banker Premier Realty is asking area students in grades K through 8 to enter the second annual Coldwell Banker My Home: The American Dream Contest and describe what makes their houses homes.
Entries may be submitted as: a short film on DVD or VHS; a storyboard, comic book or series of photographs with text; or an essay accompanied by illustrations.
Three grand prize-winning students each will receive $2,000 cash. Fifty finalists each will be awarded $100 prizes. Teachers of the grand prize-winning students each will receive a new digital video camera for their classroom. All entries must be postmarked by Dec. 1.
