BASEBALL

Planning under way for AAU fall season

Play for 13-U (80' bases), 14-U, 16-U and 18-U (wood bat) age groups is forming for the AAU District Tournament, Nov. 10-12.

BASKETBALL

Adult open play offered on Thursdays

Players high school age and above are invited to participate in adult basketball open play from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursdays at Christ the King Catholic Church, 4925 S. Torrey Pines Drive. There is $2 charge per person.

Grade school through high school age youths can play from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays and from 2 to 5 p.m. Wednesdays and Fridays. There is a $10 yearly fee and a registration packet must be filled out.

Fall basketball league for youths offered

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Las Vegas has opened registration for its basketball league for boys and girls in grades 6 to 12 at the Lied Memorial Unit, 2850 S. Lindell Road.

Registration is taken from 7 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Cost is $50 and includes an annual membership to the club, 10 regular season games, a postseason tournament and a team T-shirt.

New Vista Community event set for Monday

The fifth annual golf tournament sponsored by New Vista Community will be held Monday at Siena Golf Club, 10575 Siena Monte Ave. Registration and continental breakfast is at 6:30 a.m. with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. and a luncheon reception at 1 p.m.

TENNIS

Heinrich YMCA offers junior lessons

Youth beginners ages 7 to 17 can learn tennis techniques from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Wednesdays at YMCA, 4141 Meadows Lane. Intermediate players meet from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Thursdays, and advanced players meet from 10:30 a.m. to noon on Saturdays.

The cost for four classes is $55 for members and $65 for nonmembers. Call 877-9622 for more information.

The Centennial Youth Wrestling Club is holding registration for its 2006-2007 season.
