Lebanese dance rich with history and folklore

Clark County Parks and Recreation's World Steps dance series continues with Lebanese debke dance at 2 p.m. Sunday at Winchester Cultural Center, 3130 S. McLeod Drive.

Dance veteran Nabila Mettualli, the ambassador of United Lebanon Relief, presents the performance. Admission is $10 for adults, and $7 for children and seniors.

Debke, the national dance of Lebanon, is performed in a line and is rich with complex steps, consisting of grapevine maneuvers, stomping, hopping and intricate footwork. The dance is steeped in history and folklore.

Library to show 'Joy Luck Club'

Catch a viewing of "The Joy Luck Club" at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Sunset Room of the Green Valley Library, 2797 N. Green Valley Parkway.

This 1993 film, based on the best-selling novel by Amy Tan, reveals startling events and conditions that have shaped the lives of several generations of Chinese women. For mature audiences only.

PLAYWRIGHT CONTEST WINNER

The Nevada Conservatory Theatre will present "The Masks of Rio Claro," by Richard Sewell this weekend at the Black Box Theatre at UNLV. The play is the winner of the Morton R. Sarett National Playwriting Competition.

Since 1988, the competition has featured original plays from around the country.

Performances for this weekend are at 8 p.m. today, 2 and 8 p.m. Saturday, and at 2 p.m. Sunday. Shows continue until April 16. The theater is on the first floor of the Ham Fine Arts Building.

Easter events planned across Henderson

Egg-stravaganza to be held at Lake Las Vegas

Lake Las Vegas Resort is celebrating Easter with four egg hunts featuring 25,000 eggs at 11 a.m., noon, 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday.

Admission is $2, with a portion of proceeds going to the Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation.

Children can have their photos taken with the Easter Bunny for $10.

There will be a petting zoo and pony rides from noon until 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday for a small fee.
