More than 1,200 high school students competed in the third annual competition, and each team was given the task of building a robot that could play a tic-tac-toe-type game, Rack-n-Roll. Cimarron-Memorial High School, the first place winners for the last two years, were runners-up this year and took home the Motorola Quality Award. Legacy High School, in its first-ever competition, made it to the quarterfinals. Canyon Springs, also a first-year team, was presented with the Highest Rookie Seed Award. The top award went to Foshay Learning Center in Los Angeles.Photos by Jim Miller/View
