EXCELLENCE IN EDUCATION
Kelly Bohn, a special education liaison at the newly opened Thompson Elementary School, has seen, firsthand, the benefits of implementing inclusive education strategies in her school's classrooms.
"It's really the only way," the 15-year Clark County School District veteran said. "I believe the kids need to be exposed to real life and a real curriculum. They need to feel a part of everything and learn how to get their own needs met. We've seen the academic success that results when students are placed in inclusive classrooms."
Thompson Elementary is one of 91 schools that participate in the Nevada Partnership for Inclusive Education, a partner-ship between the Clark County School District, the Nevada System of Higher Education, the Public Education Foundation and the community.
Nevada PIE recognized Bohn as its April Teacher of the Month.
