Desert Riders Club is hosting a poker run to benefit the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation on Saturday at Carter Powersports, 6275 S. Decatur. A $20 registration fee includes lunch, and registration will be from 8:30 to 10 a.m. Riders will leave upon registering and gather cards along a nearly 60 mile route for a chance to secure the best poker hand and win a set of Dunlop Elite tires valued at $530. The second best hand wins a $250 Tourmaster leather jacket and the third best hand wins a $100 gift certificate from Carter Powersports. The worst poker hand receives a $100 gift certificate. The run is being held in conjunction with Carter Powersports Grand Opening celebration, which includes a KOMP-FM, 92.3, radio remote from 9 to 11 a.m., music by Four for the Road from 12 to 3 p.m., free food and drinks, a drawing for a $1,000 shopping spree, biker boot shines and a host of prizes. Mesquite Club to celebrate anniversary
The public is invited to attend a celebration of the Mesquite Club's 96th anniversary. There will be a wine and dinner buffet from 6 to 9 p.m. on Saturday at the Spanish Trail Country Club, 5050 Spanish Trail Lane. Service scholarship deadline approaching
Vision Source Las Vegas' See the Change Scholarship deadline is approaching. The group is offering $12,000 to 2007 high school graduates in Las Vegas and Henderson.
The scholarship rewards students for their contributions to community service projects and for demonstrating visionary thinking in developing community service-based solutions to issues that challenge Las Vegas.
Three $2,000 scholarships will be awarded to graduates intending to pursue a degree in a health, medical, or science-related field in fall 2007 at a four-year college or university. A second set of three $2,000 scholarships will be awarded to students aiming for a degree in an art-or design-related field in fall 2007 at a two- or four-year college, university, or art school.
