SPOTLIGHT ON: Becker's Lakeside

There's been a name change at Charlie's Lakeside and what a difference one word makes. Now known as Becker's Lakeside, most noticeable is the new menu and wine list from former North Beach Café owner Ozzie Montano and executive chef Eric Anderson. Gail Hunt is general manager. For breakfast, served from 10 p.m. to 11 a.m., enjoy omelets, pancakes, Grand Marnier french toast, and chicken fried steak and eggs. Lunch specialties, served from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., include seafood salad (shrimp, scallops, mixed greens), traditional chef salad, Portobello mushroom sandwich, Lakeside chicken pasta, crispy calamari, beef Philly and beef filet sliders. Dinner favorites, served from 5 to 10 p.m., include linguini and clams, chicken Florentine, short ribs, swordfish, shrimp scampi, rack of lamb, Osso Buco and a nightly special. Dinner is complimented by piano bar entertainment from 7 p.m. to midnight Wednesday through Saturday. A bar menu featuring sandwiches and more is available 24 hours a day. The newly remodeled outdoor patio seats 40, and the private 70-seat meeting room is equipped with satellite, video, wide screen and wi-fi. -- Jack Bulavsky
