Former Supreme to give concert

Supreme and Anthem resident Mary Wilson will appear at the Golden Nugget April 20 and 21.

Eat food, watch movies at center

The Winchester Cultural Center, 3130 S. McLeod Drive, presents its second Food and Films Series through April.

All films begin at 7 p.m., with appetizers served prior to the film. Tickets are $3.

"A Feast at Midnight," starring Christopher Lee, focuses on a new student at a British school who forms a secret society based on the love of food. The movie will be shown on Thursday. It is rated PG.

The last film, "Simply Irresistible," will be shown on April 26. The movie, starring Sarah Michelle Gellar and Sean Patrick Flanery, tells the story of a woman (Gellar) who inherits her mother's fledging restaurant, which she believes to be magical. Flanery is a retail executive who tries to resist Gellar and her creations. The film is rated PG-13.

Junior League paints the town for charity

The Junior League of Las Vegas will hold its annual Paint the Town Red gala from 6:30 to 10 p.m. on April 27 at Wynn Las Vegas.

The masquerade ball will include dinner, live and silent auctions and recognition of outstanding citizens.

Junior League sustainer Donna Andress will receive the Lifetime Community Achievement Award for the contributions she has made to Las Vegas in the last 55 years.

JLLV also will award Don and Dee Snyder with the Florence Lee Jones Humanitarian Award for their contributions and dedication to Las Vegas.

Tickets are $175 each or $1,500 for a table of 10. Sponsorship tables are available for $3,000. For tickets, call 822-6536.

Chip Maxfield roast to benefit homeless youth

Clark County Commissioner Chip Maxfield will offer himself to be roasted by comedians and satirists at 6 p.m. on Saturday at the Rio in the Brazilian room.

Tickets are $300 per person. Proceeds will benefit the Nevada Partnership for Homeless Youth.

The roast will feature Strategic Solutions' Terry Murphy, Clark County Commissioner Rory Reid and Harrah's executive Thom Reilly. Paula Francis of KLAS-TV, Channel 8, will host.

Teens to talk about future goals

Teens who are looking to get information on higher education, goals and life after high school are invited to attend Whitney Recreation Center's Teen Conference from 5 to 7:30 p.m. on April 26.

The free event will take place at the Whitney Recreation Center campus, 5712 E. Missouri Ave.

Students and parents can attend 20-minute workshops and discussions with higher education and trade school representatives, including CCSN, Consumer Credit Counseling, the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors' Authority, the Academy of Healing Arts, Lincoln College of Technology and UNLV's Gear Up program. Nobel Prize winner to speak

Former South African president and Nobel Peace Prize winner F.W. De Klerk will present Bridging the Gap: Globalization Without Isolation at 7:30 p.m. today at Artemus Ham Hall.

The event is free, but tickets are required. Tickets can be picked up at the Performing Arts Box Office and are limited to two per person.
