The Winchester Cultural Center, 3130 S. McLeod Drive, presents its second Food and Films Series through April. All films begin at 7 p.m., with appetizers served prior to the film. Tickets are $3. "Simply Irresistible," will be shown on Thursday.
The movie, starring Sarah Michelle Gellar and Sean Patrick Flanery, tells the story of a woman (Gellar) who inherits her mother's fledgling restaurant, which she believes to be magical. Flanery is a retail executive who tries to resist Gellar and her creations. The film is rated PG-13
Las Vegas High School choir showcase planned
Las Vegas High School will present its annual show choir production Spectrum 2007 at 7:30 p.m. May 3 and 4 in the Las Vegas High School Frank Brusa Theater, 6500 E. Sahara Ave.

Lei Day to celebrate island culture
The free two-day Lei Day festival celebrates Polynesian and Hawaiian culture through music, food and dance.
There will be a craft fair with vendors from Hawaii.
The festival will take place 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. May 5 and 6 in a parking lot of the California Hotel. Tickets to the Island Sounds Valley Wide concert at 7 p.m. on May 5 will be $25 in advance or $30 at the door. The Island Fever Block Party concert at 3 p.m. on May 6 is free. Home expo set for this weekend
The Las Vegas Home Improvement and Decorating show is expected to feature 450 exhibitors presenting information and products for home improvement.
The show will be open noon to 8 p.m. on Friday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday at the Cashman Center, 850 Las Vegas Blvd. South.
