Las Vegas resident Nancy Beth Lawter was born and raised in Ogden, Utah. As a child vacationing in the surrounding Utah mountains, Lawter dreamed of a fantasy world she called Scerone. In 2001, she brought those dreams to life with the publication of the original version of "The Amulet." After writing a sequel, Lawter decided to revisit and refine her original work for a second edition published in March. As the mother of nine, Lawter used only stolen moments to develop her fantasy, a tale of heroes on a magical journey.
