SENIOR GUIDE

Directory expands reach throughout state

The newly named Nevada Senior Guide, a comprehensive resource directory for seniors, recently expanded to include northern and rural Nevada.

The free guide to homes, health services and leisure activities is available in Reno, Carson City, Sparks and Gardnerville.

The Nevada Senior Guide contains the Senior Services Directory that lists more than 400 government and non-profit agencies that offer services to seniors in Nevada.

Marguerite Mathis, president and publisher of the Nevada Senior Guide, calls the directory the heartbeat of the publication.

"Seniors are such a unique group because they have so many needs that aren't met as easily as those of the younger generations," Mathis said. "They are the largest percentage of our country's population and are always looking for resources and good deals, no matter what their income level. The directory is also useful to baby boomers who can use it to find resources for their aging parents."

The Nevada Senior Directory is available at Albertson's, Borders bookstores and Longs Drugs stores in Southern Nevada, Rite Aid and CVS pharmacies in Northern Nevada, and all libraries and hospitals throughout the state.

The Nevada Senior Guide is a quarterly publication, with the next issue due out today.
