Landfill expansion a challenge
Red tape and lengthy permitting process likely

According to Southern Nevada Health District and city records, the Boulder City landfill may, at the very best, have less than one year's life left in it or, at the very worst, may already have reached and exceeded its capacity.

The operating permit for the landfill that was modified in July 2004 stated the remaining lifetime of the landfill was 4.2 years or approximately 208,320 cubic yards.
