Poison Candy offers a different kind of couture

The girl in the photo was beautiful, but something about the way she carried herself seemed a bit precarious. She smoldered, unabashed and self-confident for the camera, well aware of the scintillating allure of her bravado.

She modeled a vintage-cut, spaghetti strap dress, modernized with a red-and-black-striped pattern and softened with small adornments of lace near the edge of the bodice -- a creation soon to be released for a fall line by playful couture pioneer Poison Candy.

Las Vegas Valley Hoopers win tourney

The Las Vegas Valley Hoopers don't have a lot of competition.

It's not because the Hoopers are so much better than any other team, although the squad's victory in last month's local Vision Sports tournament could serve as proof of that claim. It's actually because there just aren't many basketball teams in the valley made up of 11-year-old girls.
