REED WHIPPLE TO SHOW LOCAL PHOTOGRAPHERS

Photographers James Cho and Atsuko Parker photograph the natural and man-made in Las Vegas. Their joint show, Meta-Morph, will run through Dec. 21 at the Reed Whipple Cultural Center, 821 Las Vegas Blvd. North. LIBRARY TO HOLD STORYTIME

The North Las Vegas Library English-only storytime will be held at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at 2300 Civic Center Drive. For more information, call 633-1070.

FARMERS MARKET CHANGES HOURS FOR FALL

The Thursday harvest market will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the campus of City Hall, 2200 Civic Center Drive. The Friday harvest market will be held from 2 to 7 p.m. at Nature Discovery Park, 2627 Nature Park Drive.

Both markets will be on hiatus from Dec. 15 through Jan. 15, and the Friday market at Nature Discovery Park will have a new location on the other side of the park next to the library. Thursday's location will stay the same.

CSN GALLERY SHOWS MIXED-MEDIA

The CSN Fine Arts Gallery will exhibit That Day Will Come Apon You Unexpected, mixed-media drawings and prints by artist Matthew Hopson-Walker, through Dec. 31 at CSN's Cheyenne campus, 3200 E. Cheyenne Ave. For more information, call 651-4205.

NEW LIBRARY NEEDS NAME

North Las Vegas city officials are seeking suggestions for naming a new library and park. The project, unofficially referred to as the Alexander Library site, will be built on 4 acres on Alexander Road just west of Martin Luther King Boulevard. The project is expected to include a 16,000-square-foot library. North Las Vegas Library District officials expect to open the first phase of the project by early 2009.

Anyone with ideas for naming the project can submit suggestions online at www.cityofnorthlasvegas.com and by going to the North Las Vegas Library District page and clicking on the Alexander Library and Park naming form link.

Suggestions will be accepted through Dec. 17 and will be forwarded to the North Las Vegas parks and recreation advisory board. The board will narrow the list to a few choices and city council will make the final decision.

NORTH LAS VEGAS CHAMBER OPENS HOUSE FOR HOLIDAYS

The North Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual holiday open house with food and drinks. Members are invited to bring friends, family and business associates from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Chamber offices, 3345 W. Craig Road, Suite B. Everyone is invited to participate in the North Las Vegas Chamber's Adopt-a-Student program by bringing an unwrapped gift for a needy student at Lowman Elementary by Dec. 13. ALIANTE TO HOLD TOY DRIVE

The Aliante master-planned community will host a holiday toy drive for the Firefighters of Southern Nevada Burn Foundation through Dec. 21. Donors are asked to bring a new, unwrapped toy to the Aliante Information Gallery, 2600 Nature Discovery Drive, North Las Vegas. The gallery is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.

CSN TO HOLD CHORAL CONCERT

CSN vocal music students, under the direction of Mark Wherry, combine forces to present a range of songs from classical jazz to holiday favorites, featuring the College Singers, Chamber Chorale, Jazz Singers and students of the voice classes, at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday in the Nicholas J. ARTS SOCIETY TO PRESENT CHRISTMAS SHOW

The Southern Nevada Musical Arts Society will present "Christmas with the Musical Arts Society" featuring choral selections from Handel to Irving Berlin at 3 p.m., Dec. 16 in the Nicholas J. Horn Theatre at CSN on the Cheyenne campus, 3200 E. Cheyenne Ave.
