Question: Can you let me know when is the right time to trim back lantana before it goes dormant?
Your lantana probably has gone dormant by now or nearly so. You really should wait until next spring. Cut it back just prior to new growth in the spring, probably sometime in February, depending on where it is planted in your yard.
If it is near a hot wall or in a protected area, it could be early February, but if it is in an exposed area to the wind and cold, it will be later. The established root system will cause it to grow rapidly with foliage followed by flowers as soon as the top reaches the size dictated by the size of the root system.
Use a good quality fertilizer applied to the soil about mid-January, followed by a foliar application high in phosphorus about six weeks later.
