LOCAL FENCERS QUALIFY FOR 2008 JUNIOR OLYMPIC CHAMPIONSHIPS

The Fencing Academy of Nevada recently announced its automatic qualifiers for the 2008 Junior Olympic Championships to be held in Charlotte, N.C., in February. They are: Dakota Root, 15; Narayan Pathi, 17; Thomas Schumacher, 16; Kian Ameli, 16; and Nik-Nik Ameli, 14.

These local athletes are nationally ranked and will compete in Cadet Under 17 and Junior Under 20 events.

TENNIS TOURNAMENTS PLANNED AT DARLING CENTER

The Darling Tennis Center, 7901 W. Washington Ave., will host the Santa Claus Classic Jr. and Adult Tournaments on Friday through Wednesday. For more information, visit www.darlingtenniscenter.net.

HEINRICH YMCA OFFERS VOLLEYBALL LEAGUE

The Bill & Lillie Heinrich YMCA, 4141 Meadows Lane, offers a youth volleyball league from 5 to 9 p.m. on the first Friday of the month. The league includes 3-on-3, 4-on-4 and 6-on-6 volleyball for girls, boys, coed, beginner and advanced divisions.
