RAISING AWARENESS: Sixth-graders receive honor
Effort to establish National Suffrage Day nets girls medal, savings bond

Miller Middle School students Hannah Low and Destiny Carroll have received the highest honor from the Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge for their efforts to make Women's Suffrage Day a national holiday.

The foundation presented the girls with the George Washington Honor Medal earlier this month. They also received a $100 savings bond.

Adults, children can experience the gift of music at New Song

New Song Lutheran Church has always been musical, but with the addition of the Academy of Performing Arts, now the musicians are trained.

The New Song Performing Arts Academy opened in the church in September. The music school offers lessons in voice, piano, violin, guitar, drums, trumpet and saxophone. Students can start when they are 6 years old, and adults are welcome.
