CLARK COUNTY SCHOOL BOARD TO HOLD BOND MEETING

There will be a public input meeting to discuss the 2008 school bond at 6 p.m. on Jan. 7 at Chaparral High School, 3850 Annie Oakley Drive, and at 6 p.m. on Jan. 8 at Western High School, 4601 W. Bonanza Road.

ATTENDANCE ZONE ADVISORY COUNCIL TO MEET JAN. 15

There will be an Attendance Zone Advisory Council public input meeting at 6 p.m. on Jan. 15 at Sierra Vista High School, 8100 W. Robindale Road.

YEAR-ROUND STUDY GROUP REPORT RELEASED TO PUBLIC

The Clark County School District's year-round study group completed its study and decided the district needs a year-round academic calendar to help with overcrowding in elementary schools, but it needs to do a better job of communicating policy and procedures on the issue.

EDUCATION EMPLOYEES HONORED FOR EXCELLENCE

The Clark County School District Board of School Trustees honored the 2007 Excellence in Education Award recipients on Nov. 15. Honorees included Mike Barton, principal of the West Prep Institute; the Boulder City High School Boosters executive board; Maria Chavez, principal of Gene Ward Elementary School; Rhonda Glyman from the Nevada Partnership for Inclusive Education; Charlene Green, deputy superintendent; Marsha Irvin, northeast region superintendent; Richard Knoeppel, teacher at Advanced Technologies Academy; Lydia Lebovic from the Holocaust Survivors Group; Mary Jo Malloy from Nevadans for Quality Education; Ron Montoya, principal of Valley High School; Parents Charging With Pride from Clark High School; and Ralph Reynolds, UNLV professor of educational psychology.
