SEE 'THE NUTCRACKER'

* The Nevada Ballet Theatre will perform "The Nutcracker" through Thursday at UNLV's Judy Bayley Theater. Families can enjoy elaborate costumes and sets, a large cast and Tchaikovsky's timeless music. Tickets are $39, $49 and $72, and can be purchased by contacting the UNLV Box Office, 895-2787.

'THE BEST IS YET TO COME'

* Seven Strip resorts will launch fireworks from the rooftops on New Year's Eve in conjunction with America's Party at the Fremont Street Experience, featuring live music. This year's fireworks theme is "The Best is Yet to Come," and will feature swing and big band elements from yesterday and today. Fireworks show presented by Grucci.
