Instructor teaches rhythms of West Africa to Southern Nevada students

When Dele Adefemi was young, an oracle said he would someday travel abroad, across the big waters, and pave the way for his lost brothers and sisters to come back home.

The founder and executive director of African Arts Productions Inc., Adefemi, who was born and raised in Nigeria, proved the oracle right when he moved to the United States in 1987 and began teaching the ancestral rhythms of West Africa.

Junior dominates Eldorado High School scoreboard

Maybe it was because he plays for Eldorado High School. Maybe it was because he's only a junior. For whatever reason, Curtis Malone was not considered one of the top prep basketball players in Las Vegas when the 2006-07 season opened.

After Jan. 27, that had to change.
