Growth continues to be a major issue for Henderson in 2007

In his 2007 State of the City address on Feb. 14, Henderson Mayor Jim Gibson highlighted the ways in which the city has sought to meet and stay ahead of rapid population growth in the area.

"We have a true sense of community and pride in what we've accomplished, and in doing so we've been able to sustain incredible growth, while still maintaining small-town values," Gibson said.

Bishop Gorman graduate key to UNLV's revival

When Bishop Gorman High School graduate Marcus Lawrence decided to stay home to play college basketball at UNLV, Runnin' Rebels coach Lon Kruger told him he'd better be ready to play.

"Coach told me I'd get some minutes, but I didn't know how much," Lawrence said. "I just knew I had to be ready, so that's what I did."
