Maurice Lawson Del Sol High School Junior

ACCOMPLISHMENTS:

* Scored 28 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead Del Sol to a 71-64 win over Vo-Tech on Jan. 2.

* Averaged 22 points and 14 rebounds per game in tournaments over the holiday break.

* Played fullback and defensive lineman for the Dragons' football team that finished second in the Sunrise Region in 2006.

* Averaged 12.5 points per game as a sophomore on the varsity basketball squad in 2005-06.

* Started as a freshman for the first-year school's varsity basketball squad in 2004-05.

COACH: "Maurice is a three-year varsity player and it has been very enjoyable to watch him grow up and improve each year. He's a very physical presence on the basketball court but he's also awfully quick for his size. He plays above the rim a lot of the time. He's our second-leading scorer, our leading rebounder and one of the guys we really look to every game to provide a scoring punch," said Jim Dinkel, head coach of Del Sol boys basketball.

FUTURE: "I'm going to go to college and I plan on playing sports, but I think I might be too short to play basketball in college. For now, I think we can get to the playoffs this season and go very far, because we have the talent."
