Las Vegas resident William F. Amato's novel "Dangerous Influence" follows the story of Marco Fisher, a Chicago radio talk show host determined to battle corruption at any cost -- even when it puts his life in jeopardy.
Excerpt from "Dangerous Influence"
"For those of you listening for the first time, let me explain something about myself, my values and beliefs. I consider myself to be a true American, a traditional American if you will. One who stands up for his principles and when he gets pushed, pushes back. I'm not a tough guy by any stretch, but I'm proud of my heritage. I'm proud to identify with those who made this country what it is today, many of whom gave their lives in the process. Lives that were sacrificed so those of us who survived would not have to be afraid to speak our minds. ...
"We owe those who died to preserve our rights. How do we pay them back? By standing up to anyone who would try to take those rights away from us. As an American, I believe we have an obligation, a responsibility to all other Americans to resist, to complain, to proclaim out loud whenever anyone, especially our government, attempts to control or silence us. ... You can call me a fanatic if you like. You can call me a right wing radical, please do. You can turn your back, walk away and disassociate yourself from me. But, remember, if the day ever comes when your rights are being denied and trampled upon, it will be me and those like me that you will come to for protection. I pray that day never comes. If it does, however, you can depend on me, even if I couldn't depend on you."
