BASKETBALL

Hoops for Hope camp coming up

Top college and senior high school basketball players will teach game fundamentals to boys and girls ages 9-14 at the free, two-day Hoops for Hope camp from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 20 and 21 at the Doolittle Community Center. The city of Las Vegas Department of Leisure Services, Golden Gaming and the Las Vegas Review-Journal are sponsoring the event.

New league starting up at church gym

The TNZ Basketball League will begin play on Mondays and Wednesdays starting Aug. 6 at Christ the King church on Tropicana Avenue at Torrey Pines Drive. The league is looking for full teams to join, but also accepts individuals.

Boyack's accepting camp registration

Boyack's Dance Attack is accepting registration for its summer dance camp, set for July 24-26 for ages 5-17, and its summer cheer camp, set for July 18-20 for ages 6-14.

FOOTBALL

NYFL opening registration for fall

The Nevada Youth Football League will begin registration for the fall season from 10 a.m. until noon on Saturdays and from 6 to 7 p.m. on Wednesdays at 7380 W. Sahara Ave., Suite 150. Teams will compete in Las Vegas, North Las Vegas and Henderson.

Player registration is $180 for players and $80 for cheerleaders. Practice starts Aug. 1. For more information, visit www.gonyfl.com.

GOLF

Locals qualify for EWGA Championship

The EWGA semifinal championship for the Southern California/Desert Southwest area of the Executive Women's Golf Association was held on June 9 at the Double Tree Golf Resort in San Diego, with first-place winners in each flight advancing to the final round of the EWGA Championship, considered the largest amateur women's golf competition in the country.

Local golfers qualifying include Yvonne Williams of North Las Vegas, Annie Duann of Las Vegas, Kathy Kaplan of Henderson, Janis Lunde of Las Vegas, and Sharon Magnuson of Henderson.

Pro-Scratch set for Angel Park

The 2007 Cleveland Pro-Scratch will be held at Angel Park Golf Club on July 22 and 23. Two-person teams made up of one professional and one scratch amateur will compete for a purse of more than $12,000.

Ladies clinics offered throughout summer

LPGA teaching professional Kristin Sunderhaft will be conducing ladies golf clinics throughout the summer on Thursday evenings and weekend mornings. Four one-hour-per-week programs will be offered at a cost of $160 per person.

GYMNASTICS

Tiny Tots set for Durango YMCA

The Durango YMCA, 3521 N. Durango Drive, will hold Tiny Tots gymnastics starting Saturday and continuing through Aug. 18 for youth ages 3-5. Classes will be held Saturdays from noon to 1 p.m.

Cost is $60.
