Donations sought for food drive
CORE Construction is hosting its third annual Christmas in July food drive through July 27, collecting canned food and other nonperishable items for Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada's social service programs.
Donated items can be dropped off at 2410 Fire Mesa St., Suite 130, near the intersection of Smoke Ranch Road and Buffalo Drive. The office is open from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays.

Company collects supplies for youth
Toll Brothers, a homebuilder company, will accept donations of new backpacks, school supplies and personal hygiene products at all of its communities in the Las Vegas area, as well as at Toll Brothers' Design Studio, 1221 N. Town Center Drive, in Summerlin.
The drive will take place through Aug. 31 and will benefit Child Haven, a shelter for abused, neglected or abandoned children.
"Our goal is to make the first day of school a good memory for these children," said Gary Mayo, group president of Toll Brothers Nevada division. "With drop-off points throughout the Las Vegas Valley, we will make a difference in their lives."
Toll Brothers employees, vendors and subcontractors also are participating in the drive.

Dead Sea Scrolls display to draw group
The Brandeis University National Woman's Committee and the Jewish Community Center of Southern Nevada plan an Oct. 8-11 bus trip to San Diego to view the Dead Sea Scrolls exhibition at the Museum of Natural History in Balboa Park.
The cost of the trip is $429 per person, double occupancy. The single supplement is an additional $129.

Senior center to offer info and screenings
The Howard Lieburn Senior Center invites residents ages 50 and older to its Health & Wellness Fair, planned for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on July 25 at 6230 Garwood Ave.
Medical and wellness providers will offer free dental, eye and hearing screenings, blood pressure and heart rate checks, spinal screenings, chair massages and other services.
Representatives of various government agencies that focus on the senior population will distribute information and answer questions, as will health and wellness vendors from the area.
The health services are offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Free refreshments will be available while supplies last.

Call for chorus voices issued by group
The Southern Nevada Musical Arts Society invites singers from around the valley to audition for the Musical Arts Chorus and Orchestra.
