CHARITY

School supplies sought for kids

HELP of Southern Nevada is accepting school supplies for children who will be returning to classes in August.

Items needed are backpacks, crayons, pens, pencils, notebooks, folders, loose leaf paper, calculators, tissues, hand sanitizer and calculators. Distribution of school supplies will begin in August.

Many of HELP's clients do not have enough money to purchase school supplies for their children after paying rent and utility bills, according to the organization.

HELP of Southern Nevada works with low-income individuals and families helping them become more self-sufficient and less dependent upon government assistance. HELP's mission is to assist people in finding solutions to their problems and overcoming barriers, so that they can attain self-sufficiency through direct services, training and referral to community resources.

Support for the many programs comes from special events, grants, governmental agencies, corporate funding and private donations, with all money raised staying in Southern Nevada.

To donate supplies or for more information, contact Carol Williams at 369-4357, Ext. 247, or e-mail to cwilliams@helpsonv.org.
