'110 in the Shade' to finish run

Super Summer Theatre will present the final performances of "110 in the Shade" today and Saturday at the outdoor theater at Spring Mountain Ranch State Park in Red Rock Canyon.

A musical adaptation of "The Rainmaker" by N. Richard Nash, "110 in the Shade" takes place during the early 1930s, as main character Lizzie Curry searches for love.

Tickets are $10 in advance or $15 at the gate. Children five and under are free.

Debbie Reynolds to sing at Rampart

Singer, dancer and award-winning actress Debbie Reynolds will bring an evening of music and comedy to the Rampart Casino at the Resort at Summerlin at 4 p.m. on Sunday.

Reynolds has appeared in such films as "Singin' in the Rain," "The Affairs of Dobie Gillis" and "The Unsinkable Molly Brown," for which she was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress in 1964.

The mother of actress Carrie Fisher, Reynolds also won a Golden Globe for "The Debbie Reynolds Show" in 1970 and for the film "Mother" in 1966.

She also recorded "Aba Daba Honeymoon," which was a top 3 hit in 1951, and the theme song "Tammy," from "Tammy and the Bachelor," in 1957.

Reynolds will perform in the Grand Ballroom, and a $40 ticket is tax inclusive and includes a complimentary Rampart buffet. Tickets can be purchased at the main cage at the Rampart.

Guns & Hoses hockey coming to Fiesta Rancho

The bi-annual Guns & Hoses hockey game, with the Metropolitan Police Department playing against the Las Vegas Fire and Rescue Department, will be held at the SoBe Ice Arena at the Fiesta Rancho, 2400 N. Rancho Drive, on Saturday.

The main event begins at 5 p.m. Pre-game events planned include a fire truck and police car on display and the Silver Game to be played at 3:30 p.m.

There also will be raffles for prizes held all night long, as well as food and drink specials.

Tickets are $10 for adults, and children ages 12 and under are admitted free. Tickets can be purchased at the SoBe Ice Arena. All proceeds will go to support Las Vegas Guns & Hoses Ice Hockey. For more information, call 631-7000.

Reception to celebrate city-commissioned artists

The public is invited to a free reception for artists Jeff Fulmer and Darius Kuzmickas at 5:30 p.m. today at the Reed Whipple Cultural Center, 821 Las Vegas Blvd. North.

The reception is in conjunction with the "Fulmer & Kuzmickas: Paintings, Sculpture and Photography" exhibit in the center's gallery. Fulmer and Kuzmickas are two of the first Las Vegas artists commissioned under the city's "percent for the arts" ordinance, which supports the integration of original, site specific artwork into city capital construction projects.

Fulmer and Kuzmickas will be designing public art features for the new Centennial Hills Community Center.

The exhibit runs through Sept. 23. The center is open 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday (Sunday hours begin on Sept. 9). For more information, call 229-1012.
