BASKETBALL

Durango to host two camp sessions

Durango High School is having two sessions of basketball camp this summer on June 12-15 and 18-21. The cost is $125 and each camper receives a T-shirt, photo package and Nike basketball, as well as awards and prizes.

TBA registering for summer camp

The Tarkanian Basketball Academy is now accepting registration for its 2007 Summer Camp Programs. Also, TBA is offering Sunday Skills Camp, a weekly two-hour basketball class for boys and girls of all ages and skill levels held every Sunday from noon to 2 p.m. The cost is $20 per class.

Bishop Gorman camp almost full

The Bishop Gorman High School girls basketball program, back-to-back state champions, will be hosting a basketball camp from noon until 3 p.m. June 18-20 at the Christ the King church gym. Cost is $100.

FENCING

Local wins gold medal in epee

Nicolae Diaconescu, 2000 Sydney Olympian and coach at the Fencing Academy of Nevada, captured the first place gold medal and the 2007 Pacific Coast Championship title in men's epee at the event held in Las Vegas last month.

Diaconescu and his academy teammates Evan Ranes and Sean Ameli placed among the top eight medalists, and Andrea Dilibero won the Pacific Coast Championship in Youth 10 women's epee.

GOLF

Junior golf camps return to Angel Park

The Summerlin Junior Golf Academy at Angel Park Golf Course will begin its youth summer camps on June 12. Morning and evening camps will be available.

The Henderson Senior Softball League is looking for men over 40 interested in joining the Summer 2 league starting this month.

Olympians to host Durango clinic

Durango High School will host a volleyball clinic featuring two former Olympians, Charlene Johnson and Stacy Sykora, and former UCLA player Irene Renteria as clinicians.

The camp will be held from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. July 9-12 at Durango.
