Cozine Elementary School was the Platinum Award winner at the annual Inspiration Awards organized by the Nevada Partnership for Inclusive Education and The Public Education Foundation.
Cozine Elementary School was awarded a $25,000 grant. Thompson Elementary School received $15,000 as the Gold Award winner. Whitney, Snyder and Morrow elementary schools each received $10,000 as Silver Award winners. Bronze Award winners Dailey Elementary School and Silvestri Middle School were given $5,000 each.
According to Rhonda Glyman, founder of Nevada PIE, each of the 326 public schools in the Clark County School District was invited to participate.
She said 112 schools completed written reviews. Site visits by an independent committee were used to select winners.
In addition to the seven finalists, 36 schools each received $1,500 grants.
"We gave the community a chance to stand up and applaud those educators who are making this community a better place, one student at a time," Glyman said of the event.
