Folk group to sing at The Orleans

Folk group Peter, Paul and Mary will perform at The Orleans Showroom at 8 p.m. today, Saturday and Sunday.

The trio have five Grammy Awards, have produced 13 top 40 hits, six of which ascended into the top 10, and have eight gold and five platinum albums.

In 2006, the group received the latest in a long line of honors when they received the Songwriters Hall of Fame Lifetime Achievement Award.

Through the years, Peter Yarrow, Paul Stookey and Mary Travers have communicated their personal and political messages via ballads such as "Blowin' in the Wind," "Cruel War," "Leaving on a Jet Plane," "Where Have All the Flowers Gone" and "If I Had a Hammer," which enjoyed a second life as an anthem of the civil rights movement.

They are perhaps most famous for their recording of the children's classic "Puff (The Magic Dragon)."

Tickets for the show are priced from $49.95, plus tax and fees.

To purchase tickets, call 365-7075.

'Exit the Body' to begin run

SFS Entertainment will present "Exit the Body" at the Starbright Theatre, 2215 Thomas Ryan Blvd., in Sun City Summerlin.

The show will be Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m., beginning this weekend through July 1.

The show is a mystery/farce about a woman mystery writer who rents a New England house, which is to be a rendezvous point for some stolen jewels.

Four couples, all unknown to each other, turn up to search for the jewels. The leading roles of the writer, her secretary and the local maid give the actresses a field day. The rest of the characters are equal in size and humor.

The focal point of the set is a closet, which opens into a living room and a library.

In the closet is a dead body, which promptly disappears, only to be succeeded by a second body, paving the way for a hilarious series of entrances and exits.

Tickets are $12 for residents and $15 for nonresidents, and can be purchased at the Desert Vista, Mountain Shadows and Pinnacle community centers. For more information, call 240-1301.
