Studying Egypt
Artifacts crafted, displayed in library

They were going to wrap one of the teachers in toilet paper as their mummy project.

Instead, 68 students in the Gifted and Talented Education Program at Tobler Elementary School dissected fish, then prepared them much as Egyptians did in the time of King Tut.

Basketball camp: Hoops and beyond
Program to include workshop for parents of college-bound kids

The city of Las Vegas Department of Leisure Services, Golden Gaming and the Las Vegas Review-Journal are sponsoring the fifth annual free Hoops for Hope basketball camp, scheduled for 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 20-21 at the Doolittle Community Center, 1950 N. J St.

Boys and girls ages 9-14 are invited to enroll in the camp, which will include coaching by Division I basketball players from colleges in Nevada, Utah, California and Washington, including former UNLV Runnin' Rebel players.
