Ross tables proposal for convenience store

A proposal for a convenience store on the northeast corner of Durango and Grand Teton drives was tabled following a request by Las Vegas City Councilman Steven Ross at a June 6 Las Vegas City Council meeting, after another request was received from the same applicant for an abeyance.

By tabling the item, the applicant is required to notify all residents within that area when the item will be back before council. At press time, Ross had not received any updated information on this development.

Pool cover instant rebates available

Residential customers of the Southern Nevada Water Authority agencies, such as the Las Vegas Valley Water District, are eligible to redeem a coupon valued at $50 or 50 percent off the purchase of a pool cover, whichever is less, or $200 or 50 percent off the purchase of a permanent, mechanical pool cover.

A pool cover can help save 10,000 to 15,000 gallons of water each year by reducing evaporation. Pool cover coupons are available to property owners once every 36 months.

Pool owners must redeem the coupon at participating retailers. The pool cover instant rebate coupon must be presented at the time of purchase on manual use covers and at the time the contractual agreement is signed on permanently installed covers.
