THE RIGHT STEPS
Studio partners with at-risk schools for ballroom dancing program

By JAN HOGAN

VIEW STAFF WRITER

Students at Ronzone Elementary School are following the lead of ABC's popular show "Dancing with the Stars." They're involved in a new after-school program called Ballroom for Schools.

Dance instructors from Delgado Dance Studio, 4220 S. Grand Canyon Drive, Suite 1, are teaching dance basics to children in third through fifth grades. Sheryl Best is the driving force behind the program. She is co-owner of the studio with Tony Delgado, a top-ranked ballroom/Latin instructor, who taught Cheryl Burke from "Dancing with the Stars."

HAIRY SITUATION

Heather Mills, a Henderson resident and professional hair stylist for the Summerlin-area salon Curl Up N Dye, 450 S. Buffalo Drive, embodies the quintessential jaded Las Vegas punk princess with wit, style, "my way or the highway attitude" and rusty barbwire edge.

It was, in fact, that edge that made her the perfect candidate for the Style Network's "Split Ends," a new reality program with a fish-out-of-water type of premise. The show takes stylists with different backgrounds from different parts of the country and has them trade places for a few days to see who can hack it and who breaks down.
