Webber's 'Joseph' playing at library
Signature Productions presents "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" through April 28 at the Summerlin Library and Performing Arts Center Theatre, 1771 Inner Circle Drive.
With music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyrics by Tim Rice, the play is the biblical saga of Joseph and his coat of many colors. Joseph is a boy blessed with prophetic dreams, and is his father's favorite son.
When he is sold into slavery by his jealous brothers and taken to Egypt, Joseph endures a series of adventures in which his spirit and humanity are continually challenged.
Joseph is purchased by Potiphar, and thwarting advances from Potiphar's wife lands him in jail. When news of his gift to interpret dreams reaches the pharaoh (depicted as Elvis in Signature Productions' show), Joseph is well on his way to becoming second in command.
The show contains musical styles ranging from country and western to calypso to bubble-gum pop and rock 'n' roll.
Brandon Albright plays Joseph, and makes his fifth appearance with Signature Productions. His wife, Kelly, plays the show's narrator.
Performances are at 7:30 p.m. on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. A 2 p.m. matinee will be performed on April 14 and 21.
A preview performance is today at 7:30 p.m. Preview tickets are $18. Regular tickets are $22 for adults, $20 for seniors age 60 and over, $20 for students age 13 and over, and $15 for children ages 3-12. To purchase tickets, call 878-7529 or visit www.signature productions.net/tickets.
