According to Scott Ober, every teacher at his school is "responsible, capable and expected" to teach any student that enters the classroom, regardless of the student's abilities. The 24-year veteran of the Clark County School District and principal of Ober Elementary School, a school named for his parents, believes inclusive education is "the way it's supposed to be."
Ober's students are not pulled out for resource room services and are fully included in general classrooms.
Ober frequently speaks nationally as an expert in inclusive practices and is one of 10 American school administrators to be invited by the Turkish consulate to visit Istanbul this summer to discuss inclusive practices at an educational summit.
The Nevada Partnership for Inclusive Education -- a collaboration of the Clark County School District, the Nevada System of Higher Education and the Public Education Foundation -- has recognized Ober as May's Educator of the Month.
