Reduced cost mammograms offered

Nevada Cancer Institute is offering mammograms for $50 to Nevada women during National Women's Health Week, May 13-19, and in honor of Mother's Day. The lower-cost mammogram is offered to patients who elect a self-pay option instead of using their health insurance provider. Insurance plans are accepted, but are not included in the reduced-cost offer.

In Nevada, 1180 women will develop breast cancer and approximately 330 will die of the disease in 2007.

Only 70 percent of Nevada women have had a mammogram within the past two years, compared to 75 percent nationally.
