Technical high school accepting applicants

The Northwest Career and Technical Academy has extended the application deadline for interested sophomore students to Friday.

Available programs include medical professions, media communications, culinary arts, teacher education/early childhood development, construction management, transportation, hospitality, and engineering and design.

School staff raises money at McDonald's

The McDonald's on Sahara Avenue and Arville Street partnered with Vegas Verdes Elementary School and raised $1,900 for educational programs during a recent McTeacher's Night. The school's principal, several teachers and school faculty worked at the McDonald's restaurant, greeting customers, taking food orders and assisting with food preparation.

Students, their parents and other school supporters dined during the two-hour time frame to raise funds for their school.

A portion of sales generated at the front counter and drive-thru, as well as the tip money collected were donated to the school.

Night Out to benefit Rape Crisis Center

Nina Radetich, Star 102.7 and The Pearl at the Palms will offer the fourth annual Nina's Night Out on June 7. The annual fundraiser for the Rape Crisis Center will feature Avril Lavigne performing at The Pearl. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Rape Crisis Center.

Ticket prices range from $50 to $115, plus fees, and can be purchased through Ticketmaster at 474-4000, online at www.ticketmaster.com or at The Pearl box office.

Clark and Western alumni sought

The 40th reunion for Clark High School and Western High School's class of 1967 is being planned for June 15-16. Organizers are looking for their 1967 classmates.

Event raises $1,500 for foundation

Carter Powersports raised more than $1,500 for the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation during its recent National Night Out, presented by motocross racer Carey Hart.

Vacation Bible school to begin June 25

Good Samaritan Lutheran Church, 6500 W. Flamingo Road, will host a vacation Bible school from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., June 25-29.

The Bible school includes dinner, music, crafts and Bible teaching.

All children entering pre-kindergarten through fifth-grade are invited to attend this free school.
